Flores Commission Chairman; Hottell And Schlake Lukassen Take Office
Newly elected and re-elected Kimball County officials and deputies were sworn into office before the Kimball County Commissioners meeting Jan 5.
At the first meeting, the first order of business for the commissioners was to elect a chairman and vice-chairman.
Rich Flores was elected chairman, Carl Stander was elected vice chairman, and new member Elyse Schlake Lukassen joined the board.The appointments of commissioners were made to various regional boards, and contact officials were designated to local offices.
Dave Hottell was sworn in as the county's new sheriff.
All local boards were reconfirmed, with John Mortiz a new appointee to the Kimball County Manor Board and Sarah Lewis a new appointee to the Extension Board.
Meanwhile, Randy Bymer and Rick Wrangler provided updates on the county highway and the county weed departments.
Bymer reported that the department is piling snow and working on plows and machines.
Bymer is prepared to lock down fuel prices for March, April and May at about $3.55 and hopeful to later lock June, July, and August fuel prices at $3.20.
The county highway department has a new hire in the Dix area, although another worker is quitting.
In action items, the commissioners approved a resolution for a NACO Lease Purchase agreement for the purpose of financing two new sheriff vehicles.
The board approved a contract for $14,360.00 per year for Pritchard and Abbott, Inc., an appraisal company for 2023 and 2024.
