Margaret-Elaine Henderson-Sanford

Margaret Elaine Henderson-Sanford died peacefully on January 3, 2023 at Kimball County Manor. A memorial service was held January 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with inurnment at Kimball Cemetery. 

Margaret was born in Kimball, Nebraska on October 25, 1934 to George and Naomi (Wagner) Yung. She married Wayne Henderson on December 24, 1958, and they farmed and raised six children together southwest of Kimball. Wayne died in 2002. Margaret married Jim Sanford of Waitsburg, Washington in 2007 and moved there to be with him. After Jim's death in 2009, she moved to the Scottsbluff area and then to the Manor in November 2021. She was very appreciative of the care she received at the Manor and also those who came to visit. 

Margaret loved life on the farm, her family, music, and playing the piano. She donated blood as often as possible and was quick to visit the sick and the elderly. Having received her GED at age 53, she was passionate about the education of her children and grandchildren. 

Margaret is survived by her six children, Kendell (Brenda) of Scottsbluff, Sharon Sewald (Al) of North Platte, Keith of Scottsdale, AZ, Laurel Stockton (Kelly) of Plains, KS, Lanelle Shelby (Lyndle) of Ireton, IA, and Brian of Kimball; twelve grandchildren, Trisha Kautz (Kyle) of Sterling, CO, Paul Henderson of Lincoln, Kyle Henderson of Washington, DC, Jason Wenzel (Kay) of Janesville, IA, Stefanie Rawles (Jim) of North Platte, Tyler Sewald of Greeley, CO, Trevor Sewald of North Platte, Jessica Lulf (Alex Morehead) of Lawrence, KS, Katie Lulf (Kenny Schumacher) of Lincoln, Aaron Lulf (Mariah) of Derby, KS, Logan and Ethan Shelby of Ireton, IA; eight great grandchildren, Tripp and Marshell Kautz, Abbie and Anna Wenzel, Skylar and Landen Rawles, Jayven Schumacher and Bentley Lulf; and three brothers, Wayne (Margaret) Yung of Argyle, NY, Melvin (Norma) Yung of Junction, TX, and Dale Yung of Kimball. 

She was preceded in death by her infant sister Dortha Marie and sisters-in-law Ruth Carlson and Martha Yung.
