Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Kimball's wrestling supporters and local community came together last week to watch and cheer on four Kimball high school wrestlers who dominated wrestlers from Burns/Pine Bluffs.
It was a special night when the Longhorns wrestling room was named after Joe Culek, a Kimball legend in the sport.
After the four high school matches, the Longhorn senior wrestlers were honored. Each of the three seniors have been two-time state qualifiers.
They are, at 106 pounds, Matthew Johnson, son of Kyle and Laura Johnson; at 132 pounds, James McGinnis, son of Jim and Julia McGinnis; and at 152 pounds, Trey Schindler, son of Casey Schindler and Jennifer and Robert Earley. Their parents joined them in front of the large crowd.
Joe Culek and his family were next on the agenda as Joe and Connie Culek were presented with gifts and the wrestling room was named after Joe.
Finally, the wrestling evening concluded with many youth wrestlers gaining experience and competing in front of the hometown crowd.
