Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Kimball City/County Park & Recreation Executive Board met on Feb. 7 with the main item on the agenda to approve or amend the Management of (Four Winds) Golf Course Contract as presented by the City/County Park and Recreation Board.
The current contract with Chad Wise (CW Management, LLC) is set to expire on May 6.
When the agenda item for the contract agreement came up, Mayor John Morrison explained that Chad Wise would not be signing a contract extension, which would have ended Dec. 31.
Some associated with the golf course believe that Wise will be taking a golf pro position elsewhere, but he said he was not immediately ready to talk about his future.
Contract changes involved a point-of-sale system which, according to the contract, “will be provided in the pro shop by the Operating Board for the Management Firm to use to collect fees. Management Firm is required to have all daily income turned into the City office the following business day, along with a copy of all debit and credit transactions. All daily transactions must balance at the end of each business day. A check will be paid to the Management Firm for its revenue every two weeks.”
The revenues included are cart rental, range, merchandise sales, golf lessons, food and beverage sales, and alcohol sales.
Meanwhile, on Monday, Feb. 13, the Kimball City/County Park & Recreation Operating Board met in a special meeting. On the agenda was the selection of committee members to find management for the golf course.
The Park and Recreation Executive Board is made up of Kimball City Council members and county commissioners, along with County Attorney Dave Wilson.
Under the Park and Recreation Executive Board is the Park and Recreation Operating Board. Operating board members are Henry Heeg (Chair), Pat O’Brien (Vice-Chair), Jaclyn Burks, John Morrison, Ashley Thurin and Rich Flores.
