Mayor Explains His Time Away

Says He Has Been Very ‘Engaged’ With City Business

Kimball Mayor John Morrison explained his absence from Kimball in a recent email.

On Nov. 9, John Morrison was elected the new mayor of Kimball. He took office on Dec. 6 at the Kimball City Council meeting. Council meetings were either canceled due to no agenda items or lack of quorum until the Feb. 7 meeting.

In reference to his time in Texas, a concern of some residents, Morrison said, “We had this planned before I was elected.”

For the Feb. 7 meeting, he said, “I took two days to go back for the council meeting and represented the city on a trip set up by Warren Air Force Base. We were in Kimball for a week before we came back to Texas.”

The council was scheduled to meet again on Feb. 21, but Morrison said he would miss that meeting, although he has expressed his thoughts on all the items. And he assures everyone that he will be back for the next meeting.

“I believe I have been engaged as much as if I was in Kimball,” he said. “Most of the actions put in place will come to fruition starting March.”

He said if anyone in Kimball wants to talk to him, “all they have to do is call me.” Morrison’s phone number is 308-235-5673.
