Getting Ready For Easter In The Burg

Banner County

Well, this week we are experiencing winter, spring, and quite possibly summer. Time will tell.

I really have the urge to rake the yard and plant some tulips. Even the grass is trying to “green-up,” but there is still winter kill and snow. Bummer.

Not much is going on in the Burg this week because we are getting ready for Easter.

Last week, Palm Sunday services were conducted in many churches throughout our area, with Easter this week.

The Harrisburg Community Church will have breakfast in place of Sunday school this week followed by Easter Sunday services. Everyone is invited to attend and for breakfast it is a bring-whatever-you-would-like-to-bring!

Easter break at the school house is April 6-10th with action beginning on the evening of the 10th, Monday, with the regular school board meeting at 7 p.m. On the 11th, the junior high track team will compete in Bayard at 9 a.m. and the the high school team will compete in a twilight meet at Chappell. On Wednesday the 12th there will be MAC Music competition at Creek Valley. Safe travel to all of you.

Just as a heads-up! School will be in session on Friday, April 14th.

We are so sorry for the passing of Tawna Ansley and send our sympathy to the family.

As you are aware of the Easter celebration this Sunday, April 9th, you are probably aware of egg hunts, more than I will mention here, I am sure.

However, a couple fairly close are at Whipple Park in Lingle on Saturday the 8th at 1 p.m. Ages from 0-13 are invited and asked to bring your own baskets!

The Riverside Discovery Center will also sponsor egg hunts on both the 7th & 8th, at 11 a.m. & 2 p.m. Regular entrance fees will apply.

There is a Free family event on Saturday, April 8th out at the Scotts Bluff National Monument as they invite you to Junior Rangers Career Day. Participants will become certified Junior Rangers and receive a certificate and badge. Sign Language Interpreters will be on hand, all ages are invited, and it will run between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Midwest Theater will show the movie “Champions” on the 6th, 7th, and 8th at 7:30 p.m. and on the 7th and 8th at 1:30 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will go to the local Special Olympics program.

The Scottsbluff High School musical, “The Sound of Music” will be presented on April 13-15. Tickets are on sale now at http://www.ronne.com.

In the near future, the Gering High School will present “Footloose.”

Well that is all for now. Take care until next time. Have a blessed Easter and remember the reason for the season! Barb Crosss at 436-7152.
