McGinnis 3rd, Fuss 4th In Pole Vault At Bayard

The Kimball Longhorns track and field team opened April with a number of athletes setting personal records or placing Saturday at the Bayard CD Invitational.

"It was a beautiful day for a track meet," coach Tiffany Johnson said.

Longhorn highlights included:

• James McGinnis placed third at 12-0 and Trevor Fuss fourth at 11-6 (personal record) in the pole vault.

• The boys 4x100 relay team of Wyatt Cords, Jacob Wendt, James McGinnis and Noe Trevino placed fifth in 48.91a.

• Julia Winstrom placed fourth in the 100 with a time of 13.61a.

• Addisyn Olson placed fourth in triple jump at 31-3, a personal record.

• The girls 4x100 relay team of Emma Novotny, Jade O'Rourke, Addisyn Olson and Julia Winstrom placed sixth in 55.34a.

Weather permitting, the Kimball boys golf team is scheduled to open its 2023 season next week on April 11 at Mitchell and April 13 at Bridgeport.
