Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Potter-Dix School graduated 15 seniors at a commencement that began at 2 p.m. and was conducted in front of a large crowd of family, relatives, and friends.
After introductions and singing the national anthem, the seniors were awarded their scholarships by guidance counselor Sarah Deeds. Then speeches followed.
Salutatorian Luke Kasten's speech found humor and many lessons from receiving "second place" in events throughout the year. Co-valedictorians Zach Rotert and Jayden Shoemaker relived moments throughout high school and thanked families and their classmates.
Before receiving their diplomas, the seniors chosen speaker, English teacher Steven DeWitt, took the microphone. After various stories and experiences, DeWitt urged the seniors always to be hopeful in their approach to life.
Superintendent Chris Arent presented the class to receive their diplomas, and School Board President Joe Nicklas handed the graduates their diplomas.
Finally, the Presentation of Flowers wrapped up the graduation ceremony, and the graduates exited the stage by either dancing or doing a flashy routine.
The motto for the class of 2023 is "Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon" by Paul Brandt.
