Circle June 3 On Your Calender For Historical Day

Banner County

Good morning! beautiful weather and lots of green, thanks to the rain.

Here today I am sending off the last little news letter for the month of May and I can’t hardly believe it. Time is going way too fast when at the same time some days seem to go on forever.

Anyway, school is out and baseball season is getting underway.

I am trying to get my yard up to par and have transplanted a few trees and bushes. I will be potting more flowers because every year I get all excited and do it too early and they die before it really decides to stay warm.

Speaking of warm, the swimming pools will be opening soon and swimming lessons will be starting.

The final May Friday Plant Sales at Meadowlark Hearth Farm will be tomorrow, May 26th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. They are located at 12004 Everett Drive in Scottsbluff. You can get more information at [email protected].

Many city offices will be closed on Monday May 29th in observance of Memorial Day as we give special pause in remembrance of our lost loved ones.

This is a Heads-Up. The annual Banner County Historical Day celebration this year will be on Saturday, June 3rd.

There will be pancakes at the fire hall,a fun run, the parade at 10:30 a.m., lunch at the school by the FFA students, a presentation by Tim Nolting on the Bay State Ranch at 1:30 p.m., an ice cream social, kids games, a corn hole tournament, horseshoes, a quilt display,a BBQ cook-off, and a carry-in supper at 5:30 p.m.

The Historical Society will furnish burgers, brats, drinks, and table service and you are asked to bring a salad or dessert. For the BBQ cook-off, pre-registration would be appreciated and you can do that by calling Matt Rundell at 308-673-5033.

Sounds like a fun packed full day.

If you did not catch the movie FASTX out at the SkyView Drive-In this past week, you have May 25-28th to do so. It will play on each of these evenings at 8:55 p.m. and the gates open 30 minutes before that.

Have a great week and take care until next time. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
