Program Helps Students Catch Up While Working In Ag, Fishing

Educational Service Unit 13, which serves the Panhandle, would like to find some children and young adults in Kimball County to participate in its Title 1C Education Program.

Title 1C helps students – who work in agriculture or fishing –with supplemental educational programs to catch them up to regular schoolwork.

To qualify, the students must be younger than 22, have made a qualifying move to work in agriculture or fishing, moved from one school district to another, and made a change from one residence to another.

The program helps reduce disruptions and other obstacles due to repeated moves for work in agriculture or fishing

Students moving from district to district and in the agricultural or fishing industry are often up to six months behind in school work, but Title 1C support services can catch the student up in 3 months.

The Title 1C Education Program also offers various other services, including free lunches, ELA math, science, social studies, tutoring, summer school, life skills, nutrition, basic needs, transportation and youth leadership.

ESU 13, which is based on the WNCC campus in Sidney, has a variety of programs for students throughout the region.
