Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Perjury charges were filed on June 7 against Kenneth D. Childs in another legal case involving the Dix resident. The Kimball County Sheriff’s Office handled the case.
The charges stem from Sept. 30, 2022, and Feb. 20, 2023, when Childs completed and signed a financial affidavit and application attesting to income, cash, savings, stocks, and bonds. His wife, Lyla J. Childs, also faces perjury charges.
According to the court documents from Sept. 30, 2022, “Kenneth recorded $0 in cash, savings, stocks and bonds. Based on the information obtained through subpoenas that were served to Points West Bank and FirsTier Bank that were served on March 22, 2023, Kenneth had over $158,000.00” in various accounts.
Those accounts were listed in court documents, as well as the amount of money in each account.
On the Sept. 30 financial affidavit and application, Childs signed his name to “swear or affirm under the penalty of perjury, the foregoing financial affidavit is true.”
A similar situation occurred on a financial affidavit and application for the county court on Feb. 20, 2023, when Childs recorded $0 for his cash, savings, stocks, and bonds. But information obtained after subpoenas were served to FirsTier Bank and Point West Bank reported that the actual amount was in excess of $215,000.
Childs is being held in the Kimball County Jail on unrelated charges. A court date for arraignment has been set for June 22 in Kimball County Court.
