Britni Toth Replaces Chauncey Pederson
At its regular board meeting, the Kimball School Board selected former board member Chauncey Pederson’s replacement on June 12. The new member, Britni Toth, will complete the 17 months remaining of Pederson’s term.
Toth was selected from four potential candidates who applied for the spot.
The Toth family moved to Kimball a little over a year ago. They have three children, two at Mary Lynch and one in the Jr/Sr High School. Toth said the reason she applied for the position was because “I wanted to volunteer for the opportunity to assist in supporting the district. I believe it is important to invest in our current resources and create a solid infrastructure to prepare for a bright future for our schools, families and community. I feel Kimball has a great program in place to offer support and opportunities to our community, and I would like to see that continue.”
Toth will take her oath of office at the next regular meeting.
In other action items, the Kimball School Board made a more accurate description of the assessment coordinator job, approved 2023-24 fees, and held a public meeting on KPS board policy on parental involvement and student fees.
Superintendent Trevor Anderson reported to the board that the passage of LB 583, dealing with state aid, will increase Kimball’s aid from $51,679 to $615,620 for the 2023-24 school year. This figure is the most state aid Kimball has received in the past 10 years.
In addition, Anderson updated the board on financials. With 75% of the fiscal year completed, 57.19% of the budget has been spent. The current cash balance in the general fund is $3,115,260.52, while previously, the balance in 2022 was $2,973,217.84.
Several board policies were also up for their annual review.
All the district handbooks (staff, elementary, Jr/Sr High School, and extracurricular) have been updated, and changes were noted to the board members.
The next Kimball School Board meeting will be on July 10 in the KCTS meeting room.
