Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
A large crowd gathered at the Kimball County Transit Service building July 12 to celebrate the launch of new services at KCTS. State transportation officials were among those on hand.
Kimball County Transit Service celebrated its expanded service on July 12 with an open house and ribbon cutting. Officials from the Nebraska Department of Transportation and Mobility Management were on hand to celebrate, along with local and regional officials.
The new extended service was launched July 11 between Kimball and Scottsbluff, known as the Sky Line. Also, operation began on the Sun Line route from Kimball to Sidney and Chappell.
KCTS also runs the Red Line from Scottsbluff to Denver.
KCTS Administrator Christy Warner said, "While I might be standing up here talking, it takes a lot of work from a lot people to make this happen."
She went on to say it includes funding, guidance and agency support. Warner thanked Federal Transit Region 7, based out of Kansas City, for funding this project and the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Warner explained that transportation plays a critical role in the of life of residents. The goal is to connect rural communities.
"This is not just about getting people to basic needs, it is not just about getting them to a doctors appointment or shopping, we want people to thrive," she said. "We want them to be able to live in their communities."
