Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
JaLeigh Bohac is one of the girls of summer – and spring and fall – as she played softball for the Scottsbluff traveling team, the Valley Aces. Their season begins in April and continues through summer and fall.
While the Valley Aces summer season has ended and JaLeigh will age out after the fall season, she and some of her Valley Aces teammates have been invited to tryout for the Cheyenne 14 and under team.
Her love for softball started in Kimball as she was coached by her dad and played three years on leagues here.
When JaLeigh committed to the Valley Aces, her spring and summer was spent practicing Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, then games on the weekends. When the Valley Aces weren't playing in a tournament, JaLeigh was subbing on other teams, including Cheyenne and Scottsbluff teams.
JaLeigh's usual spot in the field is shortstop, but she also handles duties on first base and third. Her favorite ball to field is the line drive; it is fast and quick. JaLeigh likes the shortstop position because she gets lots of fielding.
But her real talent is with the bat.
This season, between subbing and the Aces, JaLeigh had 10 over the fence home runs; she likes her pitches high and inside.
JaLeigh has been to the plate 102 times with just the Aces, and she culminated with nine home runs for the Aces, and her RBI total is 61. The Aces season record was 25-16-2.
The Aces play and travel throughout the region from Gillette to Broken Bow with stops in Cheyenne, Brighton and Fort Lupton.
JaLeigh has been invited July 29 to Bellevue for the Nebraska Showcase All-State 12U. An A-B-C team will be chosen.
