Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
On Friday, the Kimball trap team traveled to Mason, Michigan, to shoot at Nationals. The five-member squad shot 419; each individual had two sessions with 50 shots each session. Justin Klosterman had a 74, Nolan Cook with an 81, Cameron McGinnis had a 85, Cainin Sours with a 90, and James McGinnis shot 89.
According to Brittany Cook, the team encountered some trouble as Klosterman's gun broke at the beginning of the second session, but another team let him borrow one of their guns.
Individually, Justin Klosterman shot an 88, Cainin Sours with a 94, Cameron McGinnis had 93, and Nolan Cook 81. Cainin and Cameron shot 25 straight and received a patch for every 25 straight.
Cook said they "did not qualify for the final rounds this year, but we got closer and have high hopes for next year."
The top individuals must have a 95 with a reverse run of 19 or higher. She also explained that the top teams had to have a 462 with an 87 reverse run or higher.
Cook continued to explain that it was a tough competition but worth it to get a chance to compete at that level.
The national champion team had a 494, and individuals had a perfect score and won a 19-person shoot-off. The individual champion had a perfect 400 straight at the championships.
