Dead Eye Shooters Go To Nationals

Local 4-H Club Team Comes Home From Arkansas With 29th Place

Seven members of the Dead Eye Shooters 4-H Club participated in the 2023 Daisy National BB Gun Tournament in Rogers, Arkansas July 6-10.

Team members were Karsyn Chesley, Anna Colemen, Sophie Coleman, Jalanna Krakow and Ainslie Hottell.

Kody Carpenter and Tallyn Chesley participated as team alternates.

The competition included two days of shooting in the prone, standing, sitting and kneeling position.  Each position's target was worth 100 points for a total of 400 points per shooter.

The competition also included a 100 point safety test, which applied to a participant's overall score.  Although no Dead Eye shooters placed individually, the team did place 29th with a total team score of 2,244 points.

According to team coaches Larry and Nicole Snyder, the kids worked hard to improve their test scores over the state qualifying match.

Team member Jalanna Krakow shot her personal best and several other shooters scored above their average.

"We are really proud of the kids," the Snyders said.

The team members and their families participate in other national activities, such as the barter bar and made a visit to the Daisy Museum in downtown Rogers.

Team membets funded their trip through a gun raffle with the help of Highby Outdoors, Mile High Pheasants Forever and many others who purchased and sold tickets for the kids.
