Be Careful Out There On The Roads This Harvest Season

Good morning, nice to have a few cooler days this week. The combines are still all over the place, some fields are finished and some have not started.

Be careful out there, the roads are narrow and the harvest equipment is wide! I know of one fellow that went under a header because there was no where for either of the vehicles to go, so up and under!

Fairs are coming to a close and boy have the rubber check races seen some bad luck this year. In Bridgeport a few weekends ago an accident with a horse, rider and hay bale was not good. The rider ended up with no serious injuries, and the horse with a limp.

But that was not as bad as the one this past weekend in Mitchell, where a horse and rider went down and it resulted in the irreversible severe injury of the animal. Love to watch those, but sure is hard to see that.

I myself only planted tomatoes and cucumbers this year. The tomatoes are actually doing OK, the cucumbers are sure trying but don’t think they are going to have time to even make it to 6 inches, just lots of blooms and baby cukes so far. The hail did a number on them early on, but they haven’t given up!
