Honor Flight Mission Has Kimball Stop

Korean, Vietnam & Desert Storm Veterans Plan To Be Here 1:30 p.m. Sept. 7

Korean, Vietnam and Desert Storm war veterans will be traveling through Kimball on Thursday, Sept. 7, en route to Washington to see their War Memorials.

The 14th Honor Flight Mission delegation will be stopping by the High Point Visitors Center, a place that has welcomed the Honor Flight in the past.

Steve Thomlison, Patriot Guard Riders senior ride captain, released a mission statement telling of their estimated time of arrival through Kimball.

Five or six vans carrying the veterans are being escorted into town from Chadron via Alliance, Minatare, Scottsbluff, Gering and Kimball by both law enforcement and Patriot Guard Riders.

You can support them by standing by the escort route coming through Kimball or out by High Point Welcome Center. Either stand with your hand over your heart or have a little flag you can wave.

Sidney area riders will meet                         Meet at the CENEX gas station at 14th and Illinois at 12:30 p.m. to head to Kimball.

For Kimball area riders, the stage location is the High Point Welcome Center near I-80 and Highway 71.

They expect to arrive at the welcome center about 1:30 p.m. but folks wanting to honor them are invited to the center beginning at 1 p.m. for an open house.

The riders plan to leave Kimball about 2:30 p.m. for the 1 hour, 10 minute journey to Fort Morgan, Colo.
