Good morning! At least one more beautiful week without a freeze, although it sure is getting cooler.
Homecoming last weekend at Banner County High voted in Andie West as Queen and Nathan Clements as King, congratulations!
And there is more sports this week starting tomorrow, September 28, with cross country at Bayard and an early out for the rest of the student body because . . . it is time for parent-teacher conferences! Those will take place between 2-5 p.m. and then again between 6-8 p.m. Child care is provided for those who need it during these times in the small gym. Good luck, everyone.
The next day there will be NO School, but the volleyball team will play in Chappel against Creek Valley at 5 p.m. and the football team will compete at 7 p.m.
The 97th annual Farmers Day celebration in Kimball will kick off on Friday, the 29th with a kids bike race (they have three age divisions), a bake sale, a book sale and craft show. Contact Kimball Public Library for more information.
There will also be food vendors and a free concert, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be showing at 7 p.m. at the Goodhand Theater.
The fun continues Saturday with a breakfast at the Eagles, parade at 10 a.m., more bake sales, book sales, a craft show, “Pie-a-City-Guy,” salsa contest, kids zone, gun raffle, goat roping, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at the Goodhand at 7 p.m. and a demolition derby at the fairgrounds at 4:30 p.m.
There will be an RC Airshow out at the airport on Sunday morning at 10 to complete the weekend.
Over the hill and heading north, there will be a FREE movie at the Midwest Theater on Friday, the 29th to celebrate National Silent Movie Day at 7 p.m.
The farmers markets in Scottsbluff and Morrill will be open on Saturday the 30th also.
There will be a volleyball invitational on the 30th at Morrill involving the Wildcats and seven other volleyball teams. The competition will begin at 9 a.m.
On Tueday, October 4th (already), the team will travel to Chappell to compete with Creek Valley and Leyton; game time is 5 p.m.
On the 4th, The FFA L/S judging team will travel to Hemmingford for district judging competition, the volleyball team will play at home at 1 p.m. vs. Potter-Dix and South Platte, the football team will play South Platte at 2 p.m., and there will be a flu shot clinic at 7:30 p.m. Call 436-5262 for more information on the clinic.
