OSHKOSH – Potter-Dix’s Coyote football team remained unbeaten with a 36-28 victory over Garden County in Oshkosh, spoiling the Eagles homecoming celebration and showing they’re still one of the best teams in D6 football.

Garden County opened strong and took an early lead, but the Coyotes were able to take a lead in the third quarter and held off the Eagles for the win.

Garden County put up two touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions to score 16 points in the first quarter, while Potter-Dix’s offense had trouble getting on track and only scored one touchdown and failed on an extra point attempt to trail 16-6 at the end of the first quarter.

The Potter-Dix defense stiffened in the second quarter and kept the Eagles off the board while the Coyote offense scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion to draw closer, trailing 16-14 going into the halftime break.

Potter-Dix was able to put up two touchdowns with an extra point each and held the Eagles to one score and a failed extra point to take a 28-22 lead at the end of the third quarter. On more touchdown was scored by each team in the fourth quarter, with Potter-Dix adding a two point conversion, while the Eagles failed on their extra point attempt. Potter-Dix then held on for the 36-28 victory, moving their record to 7-0 with the playoffs nearing.

Senior Brayden Kasten had another tremendous game for the Coyotes, scoring four touchdowns, two rushing and two receiving. He rushed 15 times for 44 yards and caught 4 passes for 65 yards. Sophomore Dylan Tabor continued his strong quarterback play, completing 7 of 14 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns.

Kasten had a strong day on defense, compiling 16 tackles along with senior Jaxen Beuttenback, who also had 16 tackles in the win.

Although Garden County won the yardage battle 351 to 273, the Coyote defense was able to keep them out of the end zone on many of their drives, making the difference in the contest.
