Good morning! Welcome to a beautiful fall season so far, raking leaves and cooler days.
Today, Thursday, November 10th our wrestling team is headed to Hemmingford for matches that will begin at 10 a.m. – and the homeschool program will be beginning at the Wildcat Hills at 10 a.m. also.
Over those hills the Lied Library in Scottsbluff will be holding Preschool Story Time at 10 a. m and then later at 6:15 p.m. They have this program every Thursday and all preschoolers are invited. That evening the Midwest Theater will have a live program with “Jamie Allan, iMagician-AMAZE.” He will begin his awesome program at 7 p.m. and it is billed as “ Harry Houdini meeting the 21st Century.” Sounds magical!
Friday the 10th of November is the evening of the Dinner Theater and One Act Play by our local students. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. with the play following at approximately 7 p.m.
If you did not get a ticket, you are still welcome to come watch the play. The students work hard with practice early in the morning before school starts and I am sure they appreciate your support.
The name of the play is “Tale of Lallorona” and until seen can only be described as “drama of a different sort.”
The Midwest Theater will open several showings of the movie “Killers of the Flower Moon” on the 10th with two showings, one at 1:30 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. This will run again on the 11th at 7 p.m. and on the 12th at 1:30 p.m. This movie is rated R and is 3 1/2 hours long so be aware of that.
The setting is 1920s Oklahoma on the Osage Nation Land with the discovery of oil, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and the FBI.
Up Chadron way on the 10th and the 11th, they will get an early start on Christmas shopping with “A Country Christmas in Northwestern Nebraska.”
The Pine Bough Bazaar will be at the Dawes County Fairgrounds and will be open on Friday between 4 and 7 p.m. and on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Merry Christmas!!
Saturday, November 11th is Veterans Day and we pause to express our gratitude to all of you who have served and have kept us safe. Thank you.
In Morrill on Saturday between 7 and 10 a.m. there will be a FREE breakfast for all veterans and their families. This will be at the Morrill American Legion Hall. The Winter Farmers Market is up and running now every Saturday at the Legacy of the Plains Museum in Gering. They are open from 10 a.m. -1 p.m. Also on the 10th, Theatre West will present “An Evening With Jackie Fontaine.” This will be at the Scottsbluff Country Club with dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the show at 7:p.m..
On Sunday afternoon, November 12th, the Friends of the Gering Public Library will host ‘Tea At Two With Jane Austin.” This will be in the Gering City Council Chambers at 2 p.m. More information is available by calling 308-436-7433.
On Monday, November 13th, the annual Veterans Program will be held at the school with a Free breakfast at 8 a.m. followed by a program at 9 a.m. All veterans are welcome as the community shows their respect and appreciation.
On Wednesday the 15th, there will be an LDE contest for the FFA students at 8:30 a.m. in Chadron, so you know they will be headed out bright (or dark yet) and early. Safe travel to all sports participants and good luck!
