Good morning, and here we are in December. I must be a party girl and don’t’ know it. I am not having that much fun, but boy is the time flying!
Today is the last day of November 2023, and our wrestling team is headed for Hemingford for a tournament to begin at 4 p.m.
Tomorrow, the varsity girls and boys basketball teams head to Hyannis with the boys game at 4 p.m. and the girls at 4:30 p.m.
Over the hill, the Midwest will play the movie “Four Christmases” at 1:30 & 7:30 p.m. Friday and again on Saturday, the 2nd at 7 p.m.
Torrington will host its annual Christmas Parade on Friday at 6 p.m. on Main Street, hopefully with warmer weather than this past weekend for the local Christmas parades.
The Wild Lights at the Riverside Discovery Center will be open Friday & Saturday at 5 p.m.
This Saturday, the first weekend shopping day leaves 23 days until Christmas, and the folks out at the Legacy of the Plains Museum in Gering will be celebrating their annual High Plains Christmas between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. There will be crafts, wagon rides and letters written to Santa then delivered by Pony Express riders to Santa’s Village. The Trees along the Trail will be up for viewing and voting upon if you would like to see them.
The Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff will have grebel available Saturday morning and you may pre-order the day before by calling 632-8125.
There will be a Craft Fair at the Torrington Senior Friendship Center between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. They are located at 215 E 19th Ave.
The “Polar Express” movie will be going through the Midwest Theater at 1:30 p.m., and our basketball teams will be headed to Garden County. The girls play at 1 p.m. and the boys go at 2:30 p.m. On the same day, the wrestlers will be going to Mullen for all-day competition.
Now through December 31st, the Western Arts Center will have “Nativities from Around the World” on display between 5 and 7 p.m.
Also on Saturday, December 2nd, and much closer to home, the annual Community Carry-In Supper will take place at the Banner County Museum at 5:30 p.m. Please bring a side or dessert and everything else will be provided.
On Sunday, December 3rd, there will be a Free performance by Ty Hebbert at the Salem Congregational Church. They are located at 200 17th Ave. and he will begin to perform at 5 p.m.
On Dec. 4, the Performing Arts Season Show “Rhythm of Yuletide Dance “ will take place at 7 p.m. at the Midwest Theater. Sure to be a good one!
Monday, December 4th, brings more varsity basketball as they play at home against Minatare. The girls play at 5:30 p.m. & the boys play at 7 p.m.
On the 5th & 6th, there will be a Unit Cost of Production Workshop in Kimball. This will be a hands on learning experience of the cow-calf operation. Meals will be included, and the workshop will be at the Kimball 4-H building from 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. both days. To pre-register please call 308-235-3122. Aaron Berger is the man in charge.
Also on Wednesday, December 6th, the middle school basketball teams will be be in action on the Wildcat court as they take on the Potter-Dix Coyotes. The girls will play at 1 p.m. and the boys will play at 2 p.m. Good luck and safe travel to all sports teams all week!
On next Thursday, December 7th, the annual 6th grade Entrepreneurship Expo will be held between 4 - 5:45 p.m. in the little gym and will be followed by the annual Christmas Music Concert at 6 p.m. There will be performances by pre-k to 12th grade students or your enjoyment!
