With All This Going On, Chistmas Is In The Air

Banner County

Good morning! I have to say that so far December has been great. The sunrise Monday morning was stunning. Hope you were able to see it.

After the snow on Sunday and my near miss with a stop sign, slush and ice, I definitely appreciate dry roads, and I am sure you do too!

We are sorry to hear of the passing of Lyle Huffman, long time Banner County resident, and our sympathies are extended to his family.

Here we go with another busy week. Tonight! – December 7th – the 6th graders will show you their marketing skills at the Sixth Grade Entrepreneurship Expo in the little gym at the Banner County School between 4 and 5:45 p.m. This will be followed by the Christmas program at 6 p.m. for grades pre-K through 12.

The same evening will be Anime Night for Adults at the Gering Library at 6:30 p.m. and you are all welcome to attend.

Friday the 8th the Gering Library Foundation will host its annual Mingle & Jingle between 3 and 6 p.m. with treats and drinks, plus more!

The evening of the 8th, for the first time ever, the folks in Bayard will have a Christmas Parade of Lights; the time is 5:30 p.m.

Also on that date, and following the previous late evening at school due to the Christmas program, will be a busy day for the sports teams.

The varsity wrestlers will be headed to Lusk. The varsity girls basketball team will play at 5:30 p.m., and the varsity boys basketball team will play at 7 p.m. at home against Bayard.

More wrestling comes on Saturday the 9th, this time at Gordon-Rushville. The basketball teams will once again play at home – yeah! – the girls at 10 a.m. and the boys at 11:30 a.m. Peetz is their opponent.
