The Creek Valley teams traveled to Potter on December 8, and the girls started first with their game. Potter-Dix opened a 10-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Storm did a great job on defense in the second quarter, limiting the Lady Coyotes to just three points in the frame. Trailing 19-13 at the half, the Lady Coyotes responded with a strong third quarter, putting up 19 points in the frame while holding the Lady Storm to just nine points.
The fourth quarter played out the same as the third, with Potter-Dix again putting up 19 points against Creek Valley's 9 and the Lady Coyotes grabbed their first victory of the year, 51-37. Senior Madison Williamson led the scoring with 20 points.
In the boys game, Potter-Dix opened strong, building a 10-point led over Creek Valley at the end of the first quarter. The pace continued in the second period, and Potter-Dix went into the halftime break up 34-17.
Creek Valley battled hard in the second half, but a great defense performance in the third quarter by Potter-Dix put the game out of reach, and the Coyotes earned the 66-40 win.
Potter-Dix senior Brayden Kasten led all scorers with 25 points, while sophomore Lane Brenneman led Creek Valley with 19 points.
The next day the teams traveled to Paxton, and the Lady Coyotes were stopped by the Lady Tigers on the strength of the Paxton defense in the second and third quarters. Potter-Dix had a strong fourth quarter, but it was not nearly enough to overcome the deficit, and they fell by a final score of 63-31. Williamson again led the offense with 23 points.
For the boys, the contest with the Tigers was tight the whole way through, but the Paxton boys were able to hold off the Coyotes at the end of the game to secure a 55-50 win.
Kasten again was the scoring leader with 21 points in the loss.
