City Council Holds Reorganizational Meeting

Reorganization was the main objective of the Dec. 14 meeting of the Kimball City Council but the council entered executive session to discuss selling of city properties and pending claims and imminent litigation involving Hometown Hardware, Inc.

The city had a long list of appointments and approvals for their reorganization meeting.

The council approved Mayor John Morrison’s appointments of Annette Brower for City Administrator, Paula Tarnago for city clerk, Jean Klassen for treasurer, and Jose Ruiz for chief of police.

The active members of the Kimball Police Department and Kimball Volunteer Fire Department were ratified.

The council members approved the mayor’s appointments for boards and committees, newspapers, radio station and banks. All those appointments were the same as last year.

The council approved the signature of the mayor on the Interlocal agreement for the city landfill with the county.

To end the year, two demolition grants were approved. Wesley and Anna Mietus received both demolition grants for a house, apartment and a storage garage.

Finally, prior to executive session, Chief Jose Ruiz recapped the police department’s latest calls since the last meeting.
