Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Banner County
Holy cow! Just like that we have a New Year! New do-overs to get it right.
Not a whole lot going on, but here is what I’ve got.
Today, January 4th, 2024 there is a New Year Animal Camp out at the Riverside Discovery center from 9:30 a.m.to 3:30 p.m. with a pizza lunch provided on site. Register at the gift shop please.
Yesterday the staff at Banner County School returned, with or without smiles on their faces. Those vacations are always too short. The students returned today, and probably are ready to be back, and with tomorrow (the 5th) to be a regular day of school.
Girls basketball will start off the sports week that date by traveling to Kimball to play the Longhorns at 5:30 p.m. and the boys varsity will play at 7 p.m. The Midwest will begin the showing of the movie “The Holdovers” on the 5th at 1:30 & 7 :30 p.m. and again on the 6th at 7 p.m. and the 7th at 1:30 p.m. This film is about an instructor, some students and staff who have no where to go over the Christmas holiday and the mischief that ensues.
There will be speech on Saturday, January 6th at Gering and the varsity wrestling team will be heading to Garden County.
The Western Nebraska Arts Center will have two new opening shows on the 6th and an open house between 2 and 4 p.m. Black History Celebration will be available through February 25th and “ Awen” by Traci Wilkes will be available through January 28th. This one is abstract oils created without the use of a paint brush.
Some music students will be heading to Bridgeport on the 8th to compete in the Oregon Trail Honor Band competition, which is an all day event.
The 10th will find the FFA students who are competing in the CDE contest headed to Scottsbluff for district competition. Good luck and safe travel to all of you. Nothing at home this week.
Well, that is all I have for now, take care until next time. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
