Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Kimball County campaign season is underway at this early date for the May 14 primary.
Challenger David R. Hottell (not the sheriff) and incumbent Carl Stander are off and running. They already have filed as Republicans in the election for a seat on the county Board of Commissioners.
No other candidate filings were received at the county courthouse as of Monday, but a good many area positions are up for election in 2024.
The Kimball County Clerk’s Office provided this list of those positions, the incumbents and term lengths:
• Kimball County Commissioner, Stander, 4 years.
• Kimball City Council, two seats, Gabe Ingram and Christy Warner, 4 years.
• Kimball Airport Authority, two seats, Ryan McElroy and John Ferguson, 6 years.
• Kimball School Board, three seats, Lanny Little, Kenneth Smith, Britni Toth, 4 years.
• Potter-Dix School Board, three seats, Trustin Vrtatko, Royce McConnell, Tim Maas, 4 years.
• SPNRD District Subdistrict 1, Bill Halligan, 4 years.
• Western Community College District 2, F. Lynne Klemke, 4 years.
• Western Community College at large, John Stinner, 4 years.
• Village of Bushnell Board, general election only, three seats, Gene Rossum, Jessica Rocha, Gail Luehr, 4 years.
• Village of Dix Board, general election only, three seats, Linda Rasmussen, Kimberly Gotfrey, Dave Parshall, 4 years. Dix information being verified and may change.
• ESU 13 District 12, general election only, no incumbent listed, 4 years.
