Good morning! Baby it’s cold outside, acting like it is January!
Here is hoping that all is well with you and that you have your hat and gloves on if you must be outside!
This week starts out with our kids having a regular day of school tomorrow, Friday, January 12th. However, there are still sports as the girls and boys varsity teams are off to play basketball at South Platte. The Lady Cats play at 5 p.m. and the Wildcats play at 6:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, over in the valley, there will be a PFR Insight meeting at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Scottsbluff at 11:30 a.m. Topics of decision will cover cutting edge research results in Agriculture.
The Midwest Theater will begin showing the movie “The Boys in the Boat” at 1:30 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. on that date also. This movie is based on a true story of the rowing team from the University of Washington that competed for the gold in the Olympics in Berlin in 1936. It will also be shown at 7 p.m. on Saturday and at 1:30 p.m. as a matinee on Sunday, January 14th.
On Jan. 12, Maybe you would like to head to the Gering Library for Board Game Night between 6 and 8 p.m. Everyone is invited.
The next morning, Jan. 13, at Bridgeport, there will be an informative program titled “Geriatric Education for EMS Workers” at 901 Main Street all day, 8 a.m.to 5 p.m.
Also that day, the Winter Farmers Market will be at Legacy of the Plains Museum between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., our Speech team will be headed to Scottsbluff, the varsity wrestling team will head to Chase County (Imperial), and the girls varsity and boys varsity basketball teams will play Creek Valley at home. The Lady Cats will play at 1 p.m. and the Wildcats will play at 2:30 p.m.
Early evening, 5 p.m. on Sunday the 14th, the Midwest Theater will host a live Miss America 2024 Watch Party.
Monday the 15th, our speech team is traveling to North Platte and the boys varsity team will begin MAC competition in Bridgeport. MAC play continues the following day.
On the 17th, Wednesday, there will be home games against Garden County with the middle school girls playing at 2 p.m. and the middle school boys at 3 p.m.
