Team Splits With Bridgeport, Potter-Dix
The 5th seed Longhorn girls basketball team heads into the SPVA tournament this week to take on Chase County.
The Chase County game was cancelled on Monday due to weather and extreme cold but has been rescheduled for Tuesday at Perkins County. The game started as 5 p.m.
The winner of Chase County/Kimball will play the number one seed, Bridgeport on Thursday.
Kimball 40,
Potter-Dix 24
Kimball played Potter-Dix and Bridgeport last week and finished the week with a win and a loss.
Although struggling in the first quarter in the Potter-Dix game, Coach Burks said, "We regrouped and were able to put together a really solid 2nd quarter, putting up 19 points."
Burks praised the play of senior post Grace Anderson and credited her with a double double.
Burks said, "We did not shoot well from the field, but we persevered through and came out with a win of 40-24."

Bridgeport 66,
Kimball 18
On Friday night Bridgeport with a 13-0 record showed why they are seeded number one in SPVA play. The final score was Kimball 18-Bridgeport 66.
But Coach Burks said, "Even though the score was not pretty, I was pleased with my girls' effort throughout the game. The previous years we have played Bridgeport we have been overwhelmed by them defensively, and this year I felt like we handled the pressure much more efficiently, we just were cold from the field."
