Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Banner County
Good morning! I hope you are enjoying this heat wave that we are having, nothing below zero, at least as far we can tell for now.
Personally I have never been very fond of January, partly due to the weather. After the 1st, it seems to go on forever!
Even with all of that, it is hard to believe that this is the last week before February says “hello!”
However, starting this final week, tonight January 25, the Midwest Theater will host a musical comedy as the Three Redneck Tenors perform at 7 p.m.
It also is Adult Anime Night for Adults at the Gering Public Library. Everyone is invited and this will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Friday the 26th there is NO school at home. However, the games must go on, so varsity wrestling against the Mitchell secondary at Mitchell will be at 1 p.m. and the boys and girls varsity basketball teams will head to Guernsey where the boys will play Guernsey-Sunrise at 2 p.m. followed by the girls at 3:30 p.m.
Over the hill on the 26th, there is a Creative Kid’s Camp at 102 E Overland, Elodie’s Oddities, at 9 a.m., and the second annual Taco Bar, in support of softball, will begin at 6 p.m. at 2625 10th Street, Gering.
Also at 1:30 p.m., the Midwest Theater will begin a three day showing of the movie “ Pricilla.” It will also play that evening at 7 p.m., the 17th at 7 p.m. and the 28th at 1:30 p.m. This Pricilla is of course the the child-bride of Elvis Presley and her life story.
Saturday the 27th the Speech team will travel to Perkins County for all day competition, and it will be Senior Parents Night here at home with girls varsity basketball at 1 p.m. and boys varsity basketball at 2:30 p.m.
Music & Movement classes for toddlers and pre-K kids will be at 9-10 a.m. for ages 3-5 and at 10:15 for 1-3 (with a parent ) at 965 O street, Gering. The Winter Farmer’s Market will open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. out at the Legacy of the Plains Museum, and at 11 a.m. there will be a Art Party through 2 p.m. at 315 W 20th street in Scottsbluff. This is a get together for anyone who wants to be creative and laugh for awhile. You are welcome to bring your own materials or buy something at the event, hosted by The Hippie Witch.
That evening is Comedy Night at Bacaracks beginning at 7:30 p.m. so laughter and fun abounds this weekend!
Monday, January 29th, the January sports will be winding down as the girls varsity basketball team takes on Hemingford at their home site.
The varsity boys basketball team follows the 30th verses Scottsbluff at Home at 3:30 p.m., and the middle school teams will challenge Creek Valley the next day, January 31st. They will play here at home with the girls game at 1 p.m. and the boys at 2p.m. Good luck to all sports competitors and safe travel.
Here is a little Heads-Up. The Farm & Ranch Expo will be at the Scottsbluff County Fairgrounds in Mitchell on Feb. 2 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on the 3rd. from 9 a.m to 3 p.m.
Well, all for now. Take care and have a great week. Until next tim, Barb Cross at 436-7152.
