Elizabeth Lee "Betty" Hays, 96, of Mitchell, Nebraska, passed away February 4, 2024, at the Mitchell Care Center.
She was born October 6, 1927, in Lincoln, Kansas, the daughter of James and Anna Elizabeth (Thompson) Larsen. Betty has resided in Nebraska for the past seven years, formerly of Pratt and Geneseo, Kansas.
She graduated from Lincoln High School. She was married to Claydean Alvin Hays. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2007. Betty is also preceded in death by her parents; two children, Patricia Ann Hays, and Jimmy Dean Hays Sr.; five brothers, William "Billy" Larsen, Emerson Larsen, Clifford Dale Larsen, Howard Larsen, and Jack Larsen.
She is survived by her three grandchildren, Jimmy Dean Hays Jr. of Pratt, KS, Bobby Hays and wife Vanessa of Atlanta, GA, and Shane Hays and wife Haley of Scottsbluff, NE.: eleven great-grandchildren, Bobby, Tara, David, Taylor, Gage, Daniel, Mila, Reese, Emma, Knox, and Creighton.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons, Kansas, with Pastor Nickia Larsen officiating.
Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M., Friday, February 9, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
Memorials may be given to the Pratt Health Foundation-McFall Cancer Fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
