Lady Horns In Subdistrict After Bounce Back Win

The Longhorn girls played in the WTC last week and did well. Losing our first round game to Bayard 56-19 although we played much better than the last time we matched up with them in the first game of the season. The team has grown as players from the first of the season.

We then faced a feisty Hemingford team at WNCC. We did not play our best game, but we came out with a win. With that win, Mitchell was next on Saturday morning. Our tired legs showed themselves as they overpowered us to a loss of 32-18. Our girls fought very hard throughout the weekend and we finished 6th.

Stats: Bayard Game

Grace Anderson 10 pts 6 reb, Addy Olson 5 pts 6 reb, Julia 2 pts 4 reb, Rachel Berger 2 pts

Stats: Hemingford Game

Grace Anderson 9 pts 14 reb, Addy Olson 3 pts 2 reb, Grace Moore 5 pts 4 reb, Faith Bohac 7 pts 6 reb, Rachel Berger 4 pts 1 reb, Joey Perry 3 pts 1reb, Jasmine Gawith 2 pts 4 reb, Julia Winstrom 2 pts 3reb

On the schedule for last week was Pine Bluffs, as well as Hemingford. The game with Minatare on Friday did get cancelled due to weather.

Pine Bluffs 56,

Kimball 24

Pine Bluffs was a very good team with some dominant post play – possibly the best we have seen all year. There was a severe injury within the first few minutes of the game that delayed play for a while, we hope that injured player is doing well and is recovering. Pine Bluffs bounced back from their injured player well and came out on top, 56-24. Our shooting was not on the mark from the outside and we struggled to get the ball into our posts, which contributed to our struggles. Overall, Pine Bluffs has a solid team that is still very young and will continue to develop, just like our Lady Longhorns.

Stats: Addy Olson 11 pts, 4 reb, Grace Anderson 4 pts, 5 reb, Grace Moore 4 pts, Faith Bohac 4pts 7 reb, Julia Winstrom 1 pt 1reb

Kimball 43,

Hemingford 22

After a couple of tough losses, the girls bounced back on Friday with a good showing on our home court. I felt like we finally put together a full game, and played well the entire 40 minutes without a lull in concentration or effort. The girls did a great job communicating and playing for each other on the court and having fun, which is the goal for every game. We came out with another win on Hemingford, 43-22.

Addy Olson had another great game shooting and was on fire from the 3 pt line; she went 4 for 9. Rachel Berger also shot well and went 2/2 from the arc. The entire team worked well to pass the ball on offense and find the open girl. I was very proud of their efforts on their home court to end the regular season.

Stats: Addy Olson 23pts 4reb 2ast, Grace Anderson 7pts 7reb, Rachel Berger 6pts 2reb  Jasmine Gawith 3pts 3reb, Joey Perry 1pt 2 reb, Julia Winstrom 1pt 1 reb 3ast, Faith 2 pts 3reb

We headed into D1-12 Subdistrict play and faced South Platte in Morrill at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
