Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Banner county
Good morning and welcome to the last day of February, seems impossible! We do have one extra day this year, so there is that.
Congratulations to Banner County wrestler Wyatt Reichenberg for his 2nd place win at state!
Does not appear to be much going on at the schoolhouse this week. However, tomorrow, February 23rd, will be a regular day of school with no sports, just to give everyone a breather.
The Gering Library will host Board Game Night that evening at 6 p.m., and the Midwest Theater will begin a three day showing of the movie "The Color Purple." It will play twice on the 23rd, at 1:30 and 7 p.m., and on the 24th at 7 p.m, with the final showing on the 25th at 1:30 p.m.
The Winter Farmers Market will continue at the Legacy of the Plains Museum this Saturday the 24th between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m .;
Also that day, the speech students will be in MAC competition at South Platte, the Lied Library in Scottsbluff will host Nebraska author Tammy Marshall at 2 p.m., and the annual Duck's Unlimited Banquet will be held at the Weborg 21 Centre. The doors will open at 5:00 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. There will be games, raffles, and silent and live auctions.
On Monday the 26th, the folks in Kimball will hold a ribbon cutting for the new Kimball Health Services Hospital. This is at 255 W 4th St. at 2 p.m. I know more than one person who was born in the old hospital, speaking from experience!
Tuesday at Mitchell there will be a Bunny Butts Sip & Paint at 1450 Center Avenue at 6 p.m.
Rounding out the week, on the 28th Robert Zemanek of Gering will present a program at the Gering Library titled "What's In A Picture?" He is president of the Albany County, Wyoming, Genealogical Society and will begin at 6:30 p.m. You are invited to bring an old photo for discussion and discovery if you would like.
Well folks, February is a short month and we are ending it rather shortly. One more day next and then we will march into March. What do you think? A lamb? Or a lion?
That's all for now. Take care, safe travels until next week. Barb Cross at 436-7152.
