Lady Horns Finish Year On High Note

Kimball Closed The Gap On South Platte In Final Game

The Kimball Lady Longhorns closed out their season on a high note, despite a loss. I was so pleased and proud of the progress we displayed throughout the whole year, but especially the last game.

We were paired up with South Platte as a 3 seed at subdistricts.

Our previous game with them they won very handily, 62-37. This time around, we had a solid game plan that we executed very well.

We rotated Addy Olson and Rachel Berger face-guarding their best player, who averages 15 ppg. Those ladies did an amazing job and held her to only 6 points. While we lost 42-30, we were within 5 points most of the game. Our defense over the course of the year improved dramatically as well as our consistency on offense.

Game Stats

Addy Olson 11pts, 4 reb 2 ast

Faith Bohac 5 pts 4 reb

Julia Winstrom 2 pts 6 reb 2 ast

Rachel Berger 2pt 2 reb

I want to thank our seniors who will be leaving us this year, Grace Anderson, Julia Winstrom, Jasmine Gawith and Shannen Acheson. These girls were my first group of ladies that I had the privilege to coach all four years of their high school careers and the growth not only on the court but as young women has been an honor to be a part of.

I am looking forward to next year as we have a fantastic group of 8th graders who know this game well and will look to contribute right away. Returning next year will be the underclassmen who have made great progress in their game just in the last year and will continue to improve as we practice all summer. We are looking forward to gaining more confidence and more wins next year!
