School District Receives More Donations Of Locally Raised Beef
A presentation from the Kimball FFA Parliamentary Procedure team topped the agenda Monday at the Kimball School Board meeting.
Using Robert's Rules of Order, they conducted a mock meeting in preparation for the state FFA contest. The presentation was done by team members Nolan Cook, Landon Norberg, Grace Anderson, Aubrey Culek and Hayden Sours.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Trevor Anderson reported two more donations of locally raised beef in February, making the total beef donations five for the year.
Eh Ranch (Mark and Ashley Halstead) and 7M+ Cattle Company (Mike and Darla Griebel) are the two most recent donations.
Action items at the meeting included the approval of the 2024-25 school calendar with four-day weeks. Board Chairman Travis Cook mentioned that seven Fridays are built into the calendar.
The board also approved the salaries for classified, administrative and substitutes for the 2024-25 school year.
Other actions items included approval of quotes for the Jr/Sr High School flooring, an exterior door quote for the south addition at Jr/Sr High School, and the main entrance at Mary Lynch Elementary School. Other school improvements approved were the renovation of the Mary Lynch lockers and hallways.
A variety of items, including old basketball and football jerseys, golf bags and pom poms were declared surplus property and are up for sale.
The treasurer's report sparked some discussion as Superintendent Trevor Anderson highlighted that the report showed a $500,000 decrease, but Anderson said they still have four months of operating expenses in the general fund. The revenue side was down significantly due to a much lower property tax draw and the district waiting for reimbursement money. No concern was expressed because the property tax draw should level out by May.
The Superintendent's Report found 39.33% of the budget has been spent and 50% of fiscal year has been completed. Actual year to date expenditures are $4,428,412.02 compared to $5,007,557.47 last year. The current cash on hand in the general fund is $2,218,288.92.
The next regular school board meeting is set for April 8.
