$210,00 Loan From Kimball County No Longer Needed To Continue Operations
On Tuesday morning, word came from KCTS Administrator Christy Warner that $212,000 of reimbursements had come through from the state to help KTCS meet its financial obligations.
At the most recent Kimball County Commissioners meeting, Warner requested a loan of $210,000 to continue operating KCTS because reimbursements from the Nebraska Department of Transportation had been delayed.
As of Tuesday, Warner said that KCTS will still receive a $15,000 transfer from the county to continue operating.
In an effort to obtain more information about the reimbursement process at Nebraska Department of Transportation, the Observer reached out to NDOT and the state transit program. Here is the response:
“Thank you for reaching out to ask some questions about the transit program.
“We unfortunately do not have anyone available for interview at the current time but can provide the below information.
“The Nebraska Department of Transportation understands the importance of the Rural Transit Program for communities such as Kimball. As a partner in this process, the agency understands how critical it is to have timely reimbursements to the transit agencies we serve.
“In addition to local transit agencies, NDOT works closely with our state and federal partners to ensure all requirements of the program are met. Some of these requirements have required the need for additional supporting documentation from the subrecipients. Given the delays, NDOT has added additional staff to support reviews and decrease turnaround time.
“We continue to work closely with Kimball, in addition to other transit agencies, to get them reimbursed as quickly as possible.”
