Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Kimball track teams will be in Mitchell on Saturday, April 13, to compete in the WTC.
The past week the teams saw action at the Mitchell Invitation and the Tri-State Meet at Creek Valley in Chappel.
Mitchell Invite
Competing against 15 schools, the Kimball boys and girls track teams went to the Mitchell Invitational and proved successful.
Finishing 10th or above in the mens varsity results were Noe Trevino, 9th in the 100 Meters, Braxton Miller, and 4th in the 1,600 Meters. Taking 8th in the 3,200 Meters was Conrad Kaminski, and Braylon Miller was in 10th place.
Kimball’s relay teams had a strong showing in Mitchell with the 4x100 Meter Relay of Trevor Fuss, Greg Bingham, Derek Russell and Noe Trevino placing 7th, and the 4x400 Meter Relay of Trevor Fuss, Jacob Wendt, Noe Trevino, and Braxton Miller taking 4th.
The 4x800 Meter Relay of Braylon Miller, Hunter Funk, Eddie Duran and Conrad Kaminski placed 6th.
Freshman shot putter Derek Russell took 3rd, and then he was 6th in the discus. Meanwhile, Wyatt Cords was 8th in the discus.
Jumpers were strong at Mitchell with Braxton Miller leaping into 6th place and Trevor Fuss taking it all in the pole vault. Finishing behind Fuss was Peter Russell in 4th place.
Greg Bingham finished 7th in the long jump and Braxton Miller was 9th in the triple jump.
For the girls track team at Mitchell, Faith Bohac was 9th in the 200 Meters and Sophie Coleman also placed 9th in the 400 Meters.
Kimball’s 4x100 relay team was 8th and the 4x400 relay was 9th. Comprising the 4x100 were Rachel Berger, Kylie Wendt, Faith Bohac, and Emma Novotny. The 4x400 relay included Rachel Berger, Raith Bohac, Josephine Perry and Katie Kilgore.
Addisyn Olson jumped into 4th place in the high jump and 3rd place in the triple jump. Katie Kilgore was 8th in the high jump.
Pole vaulters Rachel Berger and Sophie Cole took 5th and 10th place at Mitchell.
Tri-State Meet
Kimball pole vaulters Peter Russell and Trevor Fuss gathered up the hardware at the Tri-State meet. Russel and Fuss took the one and two spots and teammate Cameron McGinnis followed in 6th place.
Braxton Miller was 4th in the triple jump. Derek Russel continues to score in the discus and shot put. Russell took third in the discus and 5th in the shot put, which set a Kimball freshman record. Teammate Wyatt Cords placed 6th in the discus.
The boys relays performed well with the 4x100 taking 2nd place, the 4x400 claiming 5th, and the 4x800 finishing 4th.
The 110 hurdels saw Kimball place three individuals: Peter Russell, Trenton Hottell and Landen Nunley placed 7, 8 and 10.
Noe Trevino ran to 3rd place in the 100 Meters, and 4th in the 200 Meters. Braxton Miller (5th), Conrad Kaminski (6th), an Eddie Duran (10th) successfully took honors in the 1,600 Meters.
Conrad Kaminski ran 10th in the 3,200 Meters.
The women’s results from the Tri-State meet include 200 Meters with Faith Bohac in 9th, and 400 Meters with Katie Kilgore 8th. Shannen Acheson placed 8th in the 1,600 Meters and Hannah Kilgore was 7th the 100 hurdles, while Kilgore was 8th in the 300 hurdles.
Addisyn Olsen took first in the triple jump and tied for 3rd with teammate Katie Kilgore in the high jump. Long jumping for Kimball were Kylie Wendt and Faith Bohac placing 7th and 8th.
Pole vaulters Jasmine Gawith and Grace Moore tied for 6th place and Rachel Berger received 8th.
Kimball’s relay teams placed 3rd (4x100) , 4th (4x400) and 5th (4x800).
