Kimball's Pole Vaulting Duo A One-Two Punch At Western Trails Conference Meet
Track season is well underway, and the practices are paying off as Longhorns are setting plenty of personal records.
Kimball pole vaulters took first and second at the Western Trails Conference meet at Mitchell.
Battling back and forth for top placings at meets are sophomores Trevor Fuss and Peter Russell. Fuss took first with a personal record of 14'4", while Russell PR-ed with 13'7" for second place.
Another Kimball duo, Derek Russell and Wyatt Cords scored points and personal records in the discus. Russell threw for 137'4", and Cords tossed 130'4".
Shot putter freshman Derek Russell placed fourth with a personal record of 43'11". And freshman Greg Bingham long jumped into fourth place.
Braxton Miller's 1,600-meter run of 5:21.26 was good enough for second place. He also had a personal best with third place in the triple jump and fourth in the high jump.
Conrad Kaminski had a personal record and received team points for the 3,200-meter run. Conrad's sixth-place finish took 12.44.73.
Hurdler Trenton Hottell was fifth in the 110s.
The 4x400 relay team, consisting of Trevor Fuss, Noe Trevino, Braxton Miller and Jacob Wendt, placed second at WTC, with a time of 3:43.22. The 4x100 relay placed sixth, and the 4x800 meter relay placed fifth.
The Kilgore sisters had a good day at the WTC meet. Hannah Kilgore PR-ed in the 100 meter hurdles and placed fourth with a time of 18.77, and Katie jumped 4'9" in the high jump to place 3rd.
The sisters teamed up with Josephine Perry and Shannen Acheson in the 4x400 meter relay to capture third place with a time of 4:53.95. All three relays placed sixth or above.
In another relay, 4x100, Rachel Berger, Clarika Hottell, Emma Novotny and Julie Winstrom ran 55.57 to take fourth place.
The 4x800 received sixth with Skyla Stierwalt, Jasmine Gawith, Renee Murdoch and Shannen Acheson. Also placing in the 400 meters was fourth place finisher Rachel Berger.
Pole vaulters placed fourth and fifth for Kimball. Rachel Berger vault of 8'1" was a personal record, and Clarika Hottell took fifth with her vault of 7'1".
Kylie Wendt and Julia Winstrom went fifth and sixth to score for the Kimball team. Kylie jumped 14'4" and Julia was just behind with 14'3.75".
Track meets to follow include April 19 at Morrill, the 23rd at Scottsbluff, and April 26 at North Platte St. Pat's.
