Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Plans Are For 2025 To Be The Comeback Year
Plans are being made for the Kimball Longhorn All-School Reunion to occur next year after a decade absence. Set aside July 4, 5 and 6 of 2025 to renew old friendships and start new relationships.
Chairperson Kim Baliman is thrilled to see the diverse representation from all age groups, ensuring that everyone's voice is heard and the event is a true reflection of our community.
Events that have been considered are numerous and include a 4th of July parade, car show, wine tasting, softball tourney, and cook-off. There will be a banquet, band concert, fireworks, and the Red/White golf tourney.
The reunion planning committee is considering offering tours of iconic Kimball places, including the new hospital, Clean Harbors, Kimball County Manor, Kimball Jr./Sr. High School and the Plains Historical Society Museum. Visitors might also want to check out the Sugar Shack, Kimball Bakery, Chute 7, Vince's Corner and the cemetery.
With an estimated 500 visitors in town, groups and clubs will have a financial opportunity by providing breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks.

A memorial table will be set up with pictures and information on classmates who have passed away. Another display will showcase some Kimball talent – such as doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers, actors, professional and sports players – and their achievements.
Longhorn graduates are encouraged to contact their classmates and create some interest. Classmates from 1971, are you out there? Are you coming?
Anyone interested in organizing or chairing an event is invited to meet from 4-6 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month. Zoom is available for out-of-towners. If interested in helping, contact Baliman at [email protected] or 308-235-5818. No postal mailings will be used for the reunion.
