Larry Anthony Janicek, 67, of Kimball, died at his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Following his wishes, cremation has been held, and a family arranged Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m.on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Kimball 4-H Building.

Larry Anthony Janicek was born in Kimball on November 20, 1956, the son of Richard and Donna (Schemm) Janicek. He was baptized and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kimball. He was raised and received his education in Kimball, graduating from Kimball County High School in 1975.
Following graduation, he worked in the oil fields of Kimball, Nebraska, and Douglas and Casper, Wyoming. He also worked for Stanco Oil Company and Gregory Oil Company. He married Laurie Ann Wickard, the love of his life, in December 1987. He farmed for many years for his uncle Duane Janicek, and retired from the City of Kimball in the street department in 2021.
Larry was a very hard-working man and enjoyed many things, including golfing, hot-rodding his GTOs, being outside, and mowing many yards throughout his life. He always claimed to be a jack of all trades and a master of none. He loved making people laugh through his favorite quotes like, "I've slept since then," or answering the phone by saying, "Joe's Bar."
Survivors include his wife Laurie Ann Janicek of Kimball, NE; children Loni Dee (Cody) McWilliams of Denton, TX., Lanelle Denae (Tyler) Stumf of North Platte, NE., and Lyle Douglas Janicek (Connor Francis) of Monrovia, CA; sisters Linda (Dennis) Exum of Kimball, NE., and Jody Janicek of Cheyenne, WY; brother-in-laws Greg (Wendy) Wickard and Mark (Laura) Wickard both of Bridgeport, NE; sister-in-law Jeanne Wickard of Douglas, WY; grandchildren Lexi Denae McWilliams, Cavan Thomas McWilliams, and Brayden Daniel Stumf, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Terry Janicek, niece Hannah Wickard, in-laws Lonny and Dee Wickard, and brother-in-law Vernon Wickard.
