Gwenyth A. Schwartz, 83, of Kimball, died at her home in Kimball on Friday, May 17, 2024. Following her wishes, cremation has been held and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to share condolences and stories with the family. Memorials in her memory may be given to the donor's choice. The services for Gwen have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Gwen Hendricks Schwartz, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Born on November 13, 1940, in Hettinger, North Dakota, to George J. and Gladys E. (Nelson) Hendricks, Gwen's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and cherished family memories.

Gwen's early years were spent on her family's farm in Perkins County, South Dakota, where she attended a one-room schoolhouse, forming the foundation of her strong work ethic and determination. She graduated from Hettinger High School in 1958 and began her professional journey working for the state of North Dakota in Bismarck. Her career later took her to Denver, Colorado, where she contributed her talents to AT&T.

In Fort Collins, Colorado, Gwen served as an office manager for Bob Schaefer with the U.S. House of Representatives in the 4th District of Colorado, showcasing her exceptional organizational skills and dedication to public service. On April 1, 1962, Gwen's life changed forever when she met the love of her life, Larry Schwartz, an airman in the United States Air Force. Their whirlwind romance led to a beautiful wedding on July 14, 1962, at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. Together, they embarked on a life of adventure and service, living in various locations across Colorado, Japan, Florida, Massachusetts, California, Washington, and Nebraska.

Gwen's heart was always with her family. She was a beacon of love and warmth, especially during the holidays. Thanksgiving held a special place in her heart, and she took immense joy in preparing meals and creating memories with her family. Her baking skills were legendary, and family barbecues were a highlight of her gatherings. Gwen's legacy is carried on by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life. Her family-oriented spirit, love for baking, and passion for creating joyful family gatherings will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. Gwen (Hendricks) Schwartz will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her unwavering love and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.

Gwen is survived by her husband Larry Schwartz of Kimball, NE; daughters Sharon (Bill) Fallas of Cheyenne, WY., Kimberly Fretwell and partner Gary Hooker of Wellington, CO and Jamie McCloud of Kimball, NE; 6 grandchildren Rebecca Fretwell, Jessika Fretwell, Anastasia McCloud-Manley, Brenden Fretwell, Arica McCloud and Andrew McCloud; 11 great grandchildren McKynleigh Fretwell, Ansleigh Fretwell, Kyler Fretwell, Koda Armfield, Veronica Davis, Alexander Brown, Jackson Brown, Westin Fretwell-Porter, Axton Manley, Hudson Manley and Kamden McCloud. She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers Eugene, Lyonne, and Gary, sister Laurel, and son-in-law Dewayne "Dewey" McCloud.
