Addy Olson 3rd At State In High Jump

The first three Class C high jumpers at the state meet in Omaha all jumped 5 feet, 3 inches, but it came down to misses to determine the placings.

Kimball Longhorn high jumper Addison Olsen jumped 5feet, 3 inches at State and came home with third place in state. The jump tied her personal record from her first place at District.

The sophomore high jumper will participate in an extra meet June 1 and has plans to attend a high jump camp.

Addison said about her first trip to Omaha, "I thought how cool it was to see how all the girls high jumped."

Also jumping 5 feet, 3 inches were Katelynn Kratz, a senior from West Holt who placed first, and Bailey Ahlers, a junior from Summerland, who took second.

Fourth place through eight place cleared 5 feet, 1 inch.

Addison already has a busy summer schedule with basketball in June and July with a traveling team out of Fort Collins. In July, she will play basketball at a tournament in Dallas.

Kimball's state pole vaulters Peter Russell and Trevor Fuss had previously cleared 13 feet, 6 inches, but it wasn't meant to be at Omaha. Trevor placed ninth with a vault of 12 feet, 6 inches and Peter took 12th place with a 12 foot vault.

The winning pole vault for Class C was 14 feet by Jordan Settles from North Bend Central, and second place through sixth place all vaulted 13 feet, 6 inches.
