Selling Annex, Old Hospital In Focus

Kimball County Commissioners Looking Into How To Sell The Properties

The Kimball Board of Commissioners conducted three executive/closed-door sessions at the May 22 meeting on Wednesday afternoon.

The first session required the commissioners to deal with an employee/personnel matter.

The second and third executive sessions centered around the strategy and terms regarding the sale of real estate involving the former Kimball County Hospital and the strategy and disposition of real estate involving the Kimball County Annex building.

When the commissioners emerged from the executive session, they authorized legal counsel Matt Turman and Commissioner Carl Stander to work on a potential sale of the annex building.

Currently, the Kimball County Annex building houses the UNL Extension office on the entire first floor, while half of the second floor is reserved for the Sheriff's Office.

The county purchased the annex building from the American National Bank/Points West Community Bank in 2001 for $82,500. The county then did improvements on the building totaling $74,206.
