Good morning, here is hoping all of you dads had a Happy Father’s Day! We have had a little rain, downpours in a few places with a couple of cooler days this week, and we are thankful for that.
Here in Harrisburg, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, you are invited to participate in a Community Garage Sale at the Banner County Museum.
Anyone is welcome to come sell their treasures. Please bring your own table (or tables) and lunch will be provided by the vendors.

Meanwhile, the next couple of days will be busy ones around our area. Here is a little bit of what is going on, today, Thursday, June 20th:
• The City of Gering will have band concerts/rehearsals in Legion Park at 7:30 p.m. for your entertainment. This will continue through July 18th.
• Bands on Broadway will also have music at the 18th Street Plaza in Scottsbluff each Thursday throughout the summer at 6 p.m.
• The Gering Library will host Teen Blackout Painting at 3 p.m. and at 5:30 p.m.
On Friday the 21st. at 8 a.m., the 1st annual Tails of Love garage sale will take place at 3003 Ave. G in Scottsbluff.
The weekend movie at the Midwest Theater begins that afternoon at 1:30 p.m. with “IF” – a movie about a young girl and imaginary friends. This will play again that evening at 7 and on the 22nd at 7 p.m. and finally on the 23rd. at 1:30 p.m.
If you have a little princess (or several) in your life there will be a “Little Princess Tea Party” at 134 E 21st in Torrington beginning at 2 p.m.
That evening at 5 p.m., the Legacy of the Plains Museum will host the Oregon Trail Wagon Train, which will include dinner, live music, fun activities and raffles. More information there at 308-436-1989.
More food is available that evening in Mitchell at the Holy Apostles Church as they provide pulled pork and the fixings as a fundraiser between 5 and 8 p.m.
Another event is “Married Couples Date Night” courtesy of Mitchell Berean Church and held at Hotel 21 & Co. in Gering. Registration is available by going to the church’s website. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m.
And here comes Saturday! At 7 a.m. the folks in LaGrange will begin their annual Mini Fair with breakfast, a 5K run at 7:30 a.m. the parade at 10 a.m., foot and bike races, and a gymkhana for youngsters 14 years & up.
Also from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff, 17 E. 27th St., will hold a rummage and bake sale.
Between 8 and 11 a.m. the 18th Street Farmers Market will be at the 18th Street Plaza.
Back at the 18th Street Plaza from 4-8 p.m. they will be hosting the annual Best of the West Beer & Wine Festival.
Or at 4 p.m. at the Oregon Trail Stadium, 1025 M St. in Gering there will be quite a challenge going on as the Guns N Hoses softball game takes place. The Fire Department will take on the Gering Police Department. Hard to pick a side for this one!
On Monday, June 24th, there will be an “Under the Big Top Theater Camp” from 1-4 p.m. for youngsters kindergarten and up. This will go through the 28th at 15 West 16th St. in Scottsbluff, and is hosted by the Main Street Players.
On the 25th at 10 a.m. in the Legion Park in Gering, “Theater in the Park” will be presented as a special production by Theater West.
From 1:30-4:30 p.m. that afternoon, you are invited to a Public Input Meeting on the Nebraska Natural Legacy Plan hosted by Nebraska Games & Parks Committee and the Wildcat Hills Nature Center and Recreation Area. This will be at the Nebraska Extension Office in Scottsbluff.
Finishing out the week the Gering Public Library will hold a “Build An Alien” session for kids from kindergarten to the 5th grade on Wednesday, June 26th at 1:30 p.m. Registration is required, and their number is 308-436-7433. I imagine this is so that sufficient alien body parts are available.
