Evelyn J. Lewison

Evelyn J. Lewison, 73, of Kimball, died at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center in Cheyenne on Monday, May 26, 2024. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on July 20, 2024 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Lorri Kentner officiating. The service will be Live Streamed on the Cantrell Funeral Home Facebook page.

Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to share stories and condolences with the family. Memorials may be given in her memory to the family. The arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Evelyn Joyce Lewison was born in Clay City, Illinois, the daughter of Hubert and Norma-Jean (Price) Lindsey. Evelyn graduated from Flora High School in Flora IL, class of 1970. After graduation she proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as an Administrative Clerk from 1970-1971 in Fort Benning, GA, assigned to the 43rd Engineer Battalion.  

Following her military service, she moved to Kimball NE, and has been a lifelong Kimball resident. Evelyn met the love of her life, Arnold (Arnie) Lewison in November 1974, and they were married on 12 July 1975.  

She worked at George Risk Industries. Evelyn also worked for several restaurants in Kimball and the surrounding area including, Hilltop Café, the Kelly Café, and as a keno operator at Good Times and the Wooden Keg. She was a station attendant at the Carl Schwedt Standard Station. Later she changed her career and worked for the State of Nebraska as a flagger on road construction and then for Missouri Valley Road Construction.  In 1989 and 1990 she attended WNCC and received her certification in Heavy Equipment. She enjoyed many camping trips to Oliver Reservoir with her family, and also many trips with Arnie to Prairie Winds Casino and while there they would visit his parents and other family in Phillip, SD., and also to Flora, IL to visit her family. Their friends Wayne and Janet Donahue moved to Kimball, and they took a trip to the Kennedy Space Museum in St. Augustine, FL. Evelyn and Arnie also enjoyed a cruise to the Bahama Islands. She also enjoyed their trip to Wendover, NV where she had good luck on the slots and playing B I N G O with her daughter Anita and friend Dee.

She shared her life with her husband of 49 years, Arnold Lewison of Kimball, NE, her son Bryan Bymer of Chesapeake, VA, her daughter Anita Lewison of Kimball NE, her grandsons, Jonathan Lewison and Nicholas Bymer.  She is also survived by her younger siblings Debbie Cameron, Don Lindsey, and Dean Lindsey from Flora IL., and many others.  

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Lindsey, Norma-Jean Price, and her younger brother Herbert Lindsey Jr and sister Michelle Price.
