36 Teams Compete At Vince's Tourney

Brett Ruiz First In Division A; Jeff Greenwood Wins Golf Cart

Twenty golfers at the 15th annual Vince's Corner Golf Tournament won the chance to chip from 100 yards out on hole 16, and the winner of the contest would take home a golf cart donated by the Panhandle Auto Group.

Jeff Greenwood chipped within 3 feet of the cup to take home the golf cart.

The Vince's tournament is comprised of 36 teams and players, who come from California, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming and all over Nebraska.

Here are the results of top finishers in each of the four divisions:

A Division

Brett Ruiz 1, Troy Rubottom 2, Brian Mitchell 3, Jeff Greenwood 4, Jordan Greenwood 5.

B Division

Tyler Stafford 1, Isaac Rueter 2, Aaron Osborn 3, Mitch Brown 4, Jeremy Burks 5.

C Division

Kyle Anderson 1, Mark Whetham 2, Dave Auwerda 3, Wayne Mitchell 4, Bob Culek 5.

D Division

Ferris Linn 1, Steve Linn 2, Shane Reynolds 3, Trendon Hinton 4, Steve Winstrom 5.

Meanwhile, the condition of the Four Winds Golf Course, with grass on some fairways burned out due to water well and sprinkler problems, concerned a number of golfers.

"Over 100 nonmembers came from out of town," tournament organizer Henry Heeg said. "Players were really concerned about the state of the course and getting it back in shape. Kimball's course has always been one of the best courses, and a lot are concerned about it."
