School Starts Aug. 19, But First It's County Fair Time

BANNER COUNTY

Good morning! Here is hoping that you are doing well and that if you are harvesting, that it’s going even better!

Today we are bringing the last schedule of happenings for July of 2024, and it seems crazy impossible. School will be starting in less than a month.

In Banner County, the new academic year opens Monday, Aug. 19. Classes are planned for all day.

So for today, July 25th, the Legacy of the Plains Museum in Gering will host Pulitzer Prize finalist speaker Gregg Jones at 1:30 p.m. His topic is “Most Honorable Son.” That evening’s music at 18th Street Plaza will be provided by Back In The Day and Kid Shelleen. Don’t forget your chair or blanket for the 6 p.m. fun.

With school about to begin that also means county fairs are taking place everywhere.

The Kimball-Banner County Fair gets going with early activities next Wednesday, July 31, and continues Saturday through Aug. 10. Most activities begin Monday, Aug. 5. Early events are archery on July 31; clothing judging, fashion revue and table setting judging Aug. 1; and prefair cleanup Aug. 4.
