Nebraska high school state steer wrestling champion Wyatt Reichenberg of Banner County added an eight-place world finish to his record at this month's National High School Rodeo finals in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
There were 13 performances total for Nationals. Six performances made up go-arounds 1 and 2 and then the final performance was the short-go.
The top 20 contestants with an average on two runs made it to the short-go. Wyatt finished fifth in both his performance runs.
The Harrisburg cowboy was 8.36 on his first run, which finished 33rd in go-around 1. He then was 7.02, which finished 21st in go-around 2.
His total time on 2 secured him the 12th spot in the average going into the short-go.
He won the short go with a 4.23, which bumped him up to finish eighth in the world at the National High School Rodeo finals.
There were contestants from the United States, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand and Australia.
