Kimball County Honors Its Departing Attorney Of Nearly Four Decades
Surrounded by family and friends, former Kimball County Attorney Dave Wilson accepted congratulations and praise Friday from colleagues, fellow county employees and friends at a reception in his honor.
Wilson spent his entire career in Kimball as county attorney and in his private practice.
He expressed heartfelt thanks to all the people who have been part of the Wilson family's lives, saying, "It has been a wonderful life here. We have made some wonderful friends. It is hard to leave, but we have some incentive (to be near grandchildren).
"I love it here. It is a great place to live and has lots of great people. We are going to miss you all."
The Wilsons truly have made Kimball their home. All three of Dave and Karen's children were born in the local hospital and graduated from Kimball High School.
On behalf of Kimball County Commissioners and the citizens of Kimball, Commissioner Carl Stander presented Wilson with a plaque in appreciation for his 37½ years as county attorney.
County officials, employees, and friends proceeded to express their admiration for Wilson, focusing on his integrity, trust, professionalism and positive working relationships.
Dave's wife, Karen, will also retire after a 20-year stint working in the county attorney's office.
The Wilsons are looking forward to their next adventure, planning to relocate to the Lincoln area to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Taking over the county attorney duties on a temporary basis is the Gering firm of Ellison, Kovarik & Turman.
