Installation Of 200 Units Set For This Month; Dried Out Areas To Be Watered
Crates of Toro sprinklers have arrived for the needed repairs at the Four Wind Golf Course.
Course superintendent Jeremy Williams said they have begun installing the sprinklers on the top side of the fourth hole. Fairways were burned out in several areas after gravel plugged up old sprinkler heads.
Roy's Landscaping is set to help complete the installation of the 200 sprinklers the week of August 8. The Kimball City-Kimball County Parks and Recreation Executive board approved a $110,000 loan to purchase the sprinkler heads.
After the fourth hole has been reseeded and grass begins to grow again, Williams suggested that the Observer take a photo showing the progress since a photo in the July 11 edition of the Observer showed extremely dry conditions of the course.
The Parks and Recreation Operating Board received an update on the sprinklers at their meeting on Tuesday, July 30.
Looking forward, the Kimball City/County Park and Recreation Operating Board on Tuesday considered action on hiring a golf professional, independent contractor or employee. Four Winds currently is without a golf pro.
Other business on the board's agenda was Kerry Ferguson, representing the Kimball Hospital Foundation, discussing the Golf Classic fundraiser tournament for the hospital.
Enforcement of rules and managing the liquor license also were up for discussion.
The agenda also included reports on a golf course management firm, golf and ball fields, and baseball/softball.
The next operating board meeting is set for 7 p.m. Aug. 27.
